Born in Booneville New York, Stephen Davy Began studying the art of violinmaking at the age of 26; first studying violin and bow restoration and instrument set-up with master violinmaker and restorer Albert Moglie in Washington D.C., conservator at the Library of Congress Stradivari collection.
Violinmaking soon became a passion and after eight years of hard work and study Stephen decided in 1982 to settle in Laguna Beach. He first exhibited his instrument building skills at the world famous festival of arts in Laguna: a juried art show for five years.
His busy studio on Pacific Coast Highway seemed an ideal location for setting up shop, with its ocean views and a warm feeling. Now, for more than ten years, it has been a meeting place for students, teachers and professionals alike.
